POSITIVES: I have been a Verizon wireless customer for about 10 years now. Overall, I am extremely happy with their services. In all of that time, I cant recall a single instance where I dropped a call, or didnt have at least one bar of service.
I have since gotten rid of me grandfathered plan to go to a plan where I can add MD/Data Usage. I recently got the LG dare, and the sound quality is amazing. The browser is only so-so, but its good for fantasy football updates, and movie times.
I have 2 lines, the 700 minute, 250 texts (per line) and after all is said and done, I usually end up paying just under $100/month. It used to be about 130, but I fanaugauled my way into getting a 20% discount, because I havent missed a payment since I have been a customer.
Also, whenever I have called with a question, I rarely have to wait on hold, and usually I get what I ask for (i.e. a new phone before my 'new every 2', the 20% discount as mentioned before.
THE CONS
Though to me, that still seems a bit expensive. I rarely use more than 300 minutes per month, and the only time I use data is for the occasional fantasy update (read: paragraph 2). I have since gotten Magic Jack, and use that for most of my calls at home. I will probably switch to cable VOIP combo pack once FemTocells become more prominent.
Also, on the rare occasion where my phone doesnt work (which hasnt happened in a few years) the solution is always "go to the store and get a new one". It seems like tech support and local walk in stores alike have very little experience with repairing non-functional phones. I know these days, one can transfer almost anything with removeable memory, but that wasnt always the case.
OVERALL: If the service every started getting splotchy, I would probably drop them, just because of the price.
I would recommend them to my friends in the banking world, but I would tell my buddies that work the midnight shift at McDonalds. I would tell them to go with Metro PCS, or some other bargain cell phone company.
