I eagerly anticipated FIOS being available in my area. After living with Comcast and the awful HD lineup, the day finally came!
I was offered the same monthly price as Comcast for phone/internet/tv, with a contract term of 12 months. The installation was 2 weeks later. The tech who completed the install was great. he spent a lot of time getting things just right.
The service works very well. The internet speeds are very consistent and the amount of HD channels is second to none in my area.
There are only two drawbacks to the service. The first is the DVR is inferior to many other options available. The drive capacity is very small and combined with inaccurate guide data, the DVR is only better than nothing. I invested in a Tivo HD and am very happy.
The only other drawback is the amount of taxes paid on the phone. Since this is a traditional landline phone, there are many other taxes than I had with the Comcast VoIP, about $15 more a month in taxes.
I recommend the service to everyone if you want the best, or even something acceptable. For me, it blows away Comcast.
