I waited for FIOS for 6 years almost. I considered Comcast, but their draconian practices and unfair prices always held me back. One night I was on Verizon's FIOS website, as I normally was, entering my phone number to check availability. To my surprise, it said that the service was available!!! I wasted no time in ordering. I chose the 15/2 speed, at $54.00 per month. My aim was to try this for a month, and then upgrade to the 15/15 speed.

The order process was extremely smooth. I got consistent e-mail updates and phone calls letting me know that the installation date was close. Ironically, they chose a holiday to do the install, May 26 (Memorial Day)!!!

As promised the technician showed up on time. He introduced himself, and provided some details on the install. He didn't mind if I stood around, asked questions, and watched as he did the install. He set to work very quickly, and I only made his job easier, as I'm in IT infrastructure myself, having already wired my entire house with new RJ45 CAT5E cable.

He installed a new Motorola ONT, the 1000G. He indicated that he'd never worked with this ONT before, and I was the first in my area to have it. He installed the ONT, and we had some trouble with the dial tones. We soon found that the ONT was defective, and, luckily, he had brought another with him. He installed that one, and we were on our way!

Here I am sitting here and typing on my FIOS connection. The speeds are SPOT ON. There has been no problem as of yet, and I don't expect there to be!

FIOS was sure worth the wait for me, and I am fully satisfied right now. Get FIOS as soon as you can; Comcast can't touch this one!!!

    Please update your billing experiences

I'd be interested to see if they've got the sales-to-billing workflow ironed out yet...
