** note that I just bought my first house and moved around Thanksgiving (2007), so I'm still under promo pricing, and I put in my order with plenty of advance notice - thus the 30 day estimate on days from order to success. We do not currently have FIOS TV, only the 5/2 internet service.

Previously I had AT&T U-verse at an apartment (6/1); before that was AT&T (SBC) DSL (1.5-3/384); before that (YEARS ago) we had cable internet (pre-caps).

I've had to call customer service several times and have not had much luck there. Wait times to speak to somebody frequently exceed an hour.

The one time I called tech support (to date) I was looking for assistance with the QoS settings on the router. Tech support was useless, and just told me to Google for the Actiontec MI424-WR user manual. Duh, like I hadn't done that already?!

The Actiontec router has TONS of configuration options, and is difficult to navigate... Options are buried, and without help it can be next to impossible to find them. So far I have not had problems with wireless strength, although we use our laptops infrequently. I've also read about p2p problems due to a small NAT table, but haven't run into any issues with bittorrent.

Speeds are reliably fast. I have not yet suffered any downtime. I can VPN into work and run RDP sessions as if I were actually sitting at my desk at work. I can also RDP to my home PC from work (non-standard port configuration).

Overall I'm very pleased with the service. We're trying to be smart about $$ right now, since this is our first house we're running to Home Depot & Lowe's constantly, but eventually I hope to upgrade to a faster speed. I'm also shopping around for the best TV options -- FIOS TV service seems to be "take it or leave it", and they seem to nickel and dime you to death with DVR fees, etc.
