    My Other Reviews·PHONE POWER
The install was done when scheduled, I could have chosen it to be a few days earlier.

First a crew came to attach and bury the line to my home, which they promptly cut through my Comcast cable. They were some subcontractors, not a Verizon crew, they did mend my coax (not sure how well, it is buried) The installer came around noon on the install day, and it was a bit of work indeed. The installer was very good, and I'm glad the temperature was in the low 70's, otherwise he'd be dead in my attic. He ran coax from my basement where he installed the ONT up the exterior wall then through the attic and dropped it through a closet in the room where I wanted the router. I was surprised to see a wireless router (they provided an Actiontec MI424-WR) you actually connect coax to. the router is HUGE, and at first was disappointed I could not use my own router with the WRT firmware. So far the Actiontec has worked well, and if you need to do any port forwarding, go to portforward.com , they have good instructions. The way you set up forwarding or triggering is a bit intensive, but it works. I can run a VPN conection without problem.

So far after 10 weeks, I have not noticed any down time. The first three weeks I ran the test available here on broadbandreports.com (I still call it dslreports.. to monitor the connection, and it never went down, only one hour where the ping times got a bit long, but that was it. I chose the 5/2 package and the download speed is pretty near it with upload at about 75% advertised

I signed up on the internet and the deal was " First six months 29.99 and a $20 Target Gift card. This never happened, and from day one was billed 39.99. I am still waiting to see a credit promised by Verizon (after spending your life on the phone) and just yesterday received a call telling me I would see it next month. What is interesting is I've heard from friends that the same thing has happened with Verizon promos they were to get, and it never happened.

I switched from Comcast cable. When Comcast was working, it was great and actually faster then the FIOS package I ordered at the same price. The connectivity Comcast was providing me was absolutely terrible though, and after three truck rolls, bye bye..

If you can dismiss being a number in the herd, (which we are in a company like Verizon ) and less then good customer service by telephone, the technical side appears excellent
