Jan 9, 2008 Update-- Still with them. I've since gotten moved to a remote after much calling in - Bell's fault as usual. Torrenting is throttled now because of Bell. At one point I used MLPPP to get around it but since then I don't torrent anymore so I don't really care...
June 22, 2006 Update--
Updated review since TekSavvy made some network upgrades. They're now routing through Peer1 for all clients (not just static IP users) for any IPs that are reachable without going through Cogent. Game latency for the servers I had Cogent lag with is now much lower (read: better!) and best of all, the price is still the same!
Recently I called in to see if I could get a speed upgrade (I'm still stuck at 1.7/640 due to distance issues) and so the tech offered to put in a request with Bell and asked me to call back the next day. While I couldn't get an upgrade, *kicks Bell*, TekSavvy's customer service is still top notch.
Below is the original review from January 2006--
I've been with them for about 4 months now. Ordering was pretty smooth. I originally had DSL from another provider and they claimed that Bell said I couldn't get DSL (I have a very marginal sync at that location). They put the order through anyways and I got internet service activated with them on the day I expected with no sync loss. There were some minor billing misunderstandings initially but one short call later and it was all sorted out.
Connection's always fast, no ports blocked, no throttling, no shaping. Never had any disconnects that wasn't Bell's or my modem's fault. Technical support is friendly and helpful. If I can't get someone immediately they actually do return calls (unlike Sympatico). I have a dynamic IP (PPPoE) with them so it's their Peer1/Cogent mix, occasionally this results in not-so-good ping times with FPS games, but most of the time it's good.
I own all CPE hardware and didn't need to buy or use any of TekSavvy's equipment, but even then they helped with connection issues. Good old STH...
