5/30/2007: I have ported my number back to Vonage. I must say that ViaTalk provided very good service, the rare but annoying issues caused some grief for me in that I was on the receiving end of my family's complaints whenever one of them occurred. Vonage seems to be the closest service quality wise to my previous landline carrier.
5/18/2007: Rare but annoying quality issues, such as no ring back tone on calls made persist. The quality of my connection to NewYork-2.vtoc.net has deteriorated after a recent network failure. I have reactivated an account with Vonage and will continue a side by side comparison for a while.
5/2/2007: The port of my longtime telephone number from Vonage to Viatalk was completed today. The port took 12 days. ViaTalk is very configurable, works well and their support personnel are located in NY state. I have noticed a rare issue with the lack of a ring back tone when outbound calls are ringing. I am very pleased, and highly recommend the service. I should note that I enjoy stable 8ms latency to ViaTalk's closest server
