(ratings above consensus)

Purchased the Wildblue Pro-Pak (1500 dn/256 up) with 17.5gb bandwidth (Fair Access Policy based on rolling 30 days) for 79.95 a month.

Been using Mindspring dial-up for 8 years. Cost of dial-up ran 22.95 a month plus 35.00 month for extra phone line.

Had no options for DSL, FIOS, or cable. Looked into VABB.com for wireless broadband using RF line-of-sight, but was unable to get a signal due to topography and thick forest coverage.

Order process was quick and easy. No issues.

Installation was very fast. Ordered on Wednesday one week and was installed Monday after next. Was originally scheduled for following Wednesday, but combined with Satellite TV installation and equipment arrived too late for install.

The modem is a ViaSat Surfbeam. Not sure of model, it's been re-branded with Wildblue logo's. No manual provided for the modem at all. But found this on the internet: »www.satsig.net/satellite-interne···odem.pdf

Installer could have been better trained in networking/computing to answer questions I had. But since I have the knowledge or know who/where to ask, not a big deal for me. But I could see it being an issue for a novice computer users.

Also, there was lack of any documentation on how to pull up Wildblue support, e-mail, phone numbers for technical support, etc. I assume it's all online, but should have been provided during installation in my opinion. Had the same issue for the Satellite TV (DirectTV) installation performed at the same time.

Overall, it's been a great upgrade from dial-up. Though, I am a little concerned about the Fair Access Policy (even though it's better than Hughes daily limits), but only because I have 7 desktops sharing the connection and a VERY HEAVY internet usage family.

Kids are a "little" upset because they lost "twitch" games.
