*UPDATE 2006OCTOBER16* QV has gone down the tubes, and it's not just me, look at the other ratings from others. I've had a constant dropped calls, and no calls - meaning from about 4pm-12pm 1 out of 10 calls rings a fast busy (reorder) - just this weekend, it's went up to 1 out of 30 calls, yes I've made that many calls to test it - EVERY DAY it's the same thing, EVERY DAY I call them, been going on for about a month now. With the new "company" they don't even take the support calls directly - something is going on over there, as someone else said - I used to cheerlead this company, now I'd not recommend them to my enemy. Vitelity.com all the way.
*** OLD REVIEW FROM A YEAR AGO *** Okay... First it was VoicePulse, P8, Vonage, ATT Callvantage, and now Quamtumvoice.
I've tried them all... and call quality isn't what you should be rating a company by, if they use the same codec. The call quality of QV is excellent, so were the others. If you are switching because of call quality, then its more than likely they don't support a good codec, or your bandwidth is causing the problem (unless of course you have some sort of hardware problem.)
Why did I switch around so much? I'm in search mode for the best of breed. Having a toll free number is like having a virtual number in each area code, all of them at once. Anyone can call me, and its free for them, and I don't have to count minutes. Most 8xx providers charge per-month fee, AND 2.9-15cents per minute. With QV, its 41.00 a month (that includes the misc. taxes too btw) for unlimited inbound toll free, and outbound LD to the CONUS and Canada. (I'm not 100% sure about Hawaii and Alaska).
QV - has had more than excellent customer service from pre-order, setup, and post order, than any other company I have dealt with (VOIP or not).
Install: Ordered online, received a phone call from Rich, stated they had issues with ordering me a 408 area code (you see, when you get the 8xx toll free, you also get another number which isn't toll-free, so your friends who cannot dial toll free (e.g. overseas) can still reach you. Rich gave me an option of not using their service since they cannot give me a 877 number AND a 408 number. I said , who needs it since we have a 877 number, why the need? So I got a 877 number and a Michigan number, no biggie. My account was setup in less than 24 hours. The longest delay was the ground shipment of the Sipura 2000 Device. It took 6 days. Installed it (2 minutes) and dial tone - whola!
My ONLY complaint is that I was hoping I'd have caller ID (from ANI) passed to my device even if someone blocks the number. ANI can't be blocked and is a feature of any toll free number, because you typically foot the bill. Since this plan is unlimited inbound, I think we're (end user) is exempt from the calling number when its blocked even though the technology is there. Please don't read this wrong, CALLER ID works as it should, 100% - this isn't a caller id concern at all.
Features that I like (and there are a WHOLE lot more check out their site)... BYOD Option (Bring your own device) UNLIMITED TOLL FREE INBOUND AND OUTBOUND MINUTES (with the plan of $41/mo) Soft phone (NO EXTRA CHARGE!!) Top-Notch/5-Star Personalized Customer Service
