I recently dropped my POTS line for Packet8 on my naked DSL line from Bellsouth/AT&T. I've had the service for about two weeks, and so far, so good. There did seem to be one time I was down and had to reset the ATA, but other than that, it has been solid. The call quality is average, somewhere between a cell phone and POTS--certainly acceptable. The features, especially follow-me, find-me and network unavailability are very nice.
I considered Vonage, but Packet8 got me on price. The order to install process was good, ordering to live in about 3 days, counting the time it took to ship the ATA. I was supplied with a free Uniden 160p cordless voip phone and adapter, and after setting up QoS on my Linksys WRT54g and putting the adapter in the DMZ, it seems to be a pretty good setup. Good phone for the money. Haven't needed tech support yet, so gave a 5 to be fair.
