I am a very happy Vonage customer for 3 1/2 years and couldn't be happier with it.
When I first signed up for Vonage, it was $29.99/month for unlimited calling domestically. Shortly thereafter, it DROPPED to $24.99/month where it's stayed since. That price has not expanded to unlimited calling to some European nations and very low rates to other nations worldwide. A few months ago I reduced my plan to the $14.99/month plan for 500 minutes - though there was a fee to do so, a quick e-mail to Customer Care and the fee was reimbursed.
The service is chocked full of features... the standard features include voicemail, caller ID, call waiting, 3-way calling, call forwarding, anonymous call blocking. My favorite, though, is the follow-me feature: when someone calls me at home, my Vonage line rings simultaneously with my cell and I can pick up the call on either. No matter where I am, my friends and family only need 1 # to reach me.
My connection initially was spotty with Charter's 3.0 Mbps cable service but that seemed to be an issue on Charter's end. Last year when I downgraded to Verizon's 768 kbps DSL service and was amazed that Vonage sounded as good if not better. I've recently upgraded to 1.5 Mbps DSL service through DSL Extreme (via a Verizon dry loop) and the service has remained solid.
I've never known a problem making or receiving calls, unless it was an issue with my ISP. My Motorola VT100 ATA has always reconnected to the network without my intervention.
