"Not quite as good as a land-line and Bells drag their feet on porting number over."
"The Bells could have done this years ago, but they don't care to save me money. Vonage gets my money just for being rebels."

    My Other Reviews·Charter Pipeline
This is just a fantastic service. Now I don't even think twice about picking up the phone and dialing anyone anywhere in the US or Canada.

The quality may not be quite as good as a regular land-line, but it is much better than a cell phone.

Even though they say it doesn't work in a power outage, this is easily fixed by connecting a UPS to the router. The router consumes very little power, so the UPS should be able to power it for hours.

I have been very disappointed with the service I've received from the various Bells I've done business with over the years (US West, Qwest, GTE, Pacific Bell, SBS, Verizon) and Vonage is already kicking their butts in my view. I support Vonage largely out of spite for these jerks and I highly recommend the service to anyone who will listen to me.

If the Bells were truly working hard to save us all money on our phone bills, then they would have been the pioneers of VOIP services, not some relative newcomer called Cisco Systems. It wasn't until Vonage started eating massive amounts of market share did any of these companies start to give a damn about VOIP services.

Of course, another major bonus is the fact that you get a fully functional router at no additional charge with the service. I've been using the Linksys RT31P2 as a router for my house with has 5 computers and wireless access point with 2 computers on it for the last couple of months with zero problems. I really like the fact that they selected a quality brand instead of some cheap Chinese or Taiwanese off brand of router. Linksys has great customer service as I have learned with the many various other networking gear that I have purchased over the years.

To me, there's just no discussion: get Vonage NOW.

    Update 10/23/07:

I still love Vonage. I had their fax for a while, but I think VOIP just isn't ready for faxing, yet. I have learned that the key to Vonage is really your ISP. If you have a good ISP, then you should have a wonderful experience with Vonage.
