Package is 512/256 (upgraded automatically from 384/128) for RM66 per month. Actual dl/ul is around 300/60-80. The upload bandwidth deteriorated for some reason in the last 6 months. No complaint lodged yet as I'm still collecting data and due to the lack of any domestic speedtests for upload speeds.
Edit: After the latest round of maintenance work, upload b/width appears to be 105kbps. I use the word "appears" because none of the local b/width test servers provide upload tests. Download b/width has improved about 3-5% to around 313kbps or so.
Update: Due to data caps on traffic, I've stopped testing bandwidth speeds. However, video / audio streaming still pretty much sucks so I'm guessing there's a fair bit of lag or the bandwidth speed sucks. Due to lag, I've given up online FPS gaming and due to data caps, downloading stuff is pretty much an exercise in frustration. Bottomline, stick to the basic package for surfing, email and IM and forget about pretty much anything else.
Order/install process was a pain as the technician was not familiar with my modem (Alcatel/Thomson Speedtouch 510). Had to do my own research to find out how to set it up. Technician, however, was friendly and approachable.
Tip: Opt for the technician to come to your house to do the installation for you. You'll be paying the RM125 installation charge either way so why not.
Word of advice: Get a modem that TMNet supports ... do your research before buying or subscribe for the package that includes the modem.
Note: If you are not running Windows, the only support you can count on is confirmation that the DSL connection is activated and that the tech can connect to it from your home.
Modem is connected to a switch using a cross cable. All computers in the home are connected to the switch. Modem functions as a router, DNS and DHCP server for the home network and is configured to auto-connect and maintain the connection 24/7.
Dynamic IP assigned by ISP and connection configured to use PPPoE
Since the ISP is a subsidiary of the telco, it helps when problems arise although they have separate processes for lodging complaints. They should create a central co-ordination process for this. ISP needs to improve communication with its subscribers and start giving its residential customers a little more priority as they are the bulk of their DSL customer base albeit low margin ones.
If nothing else, they need to lock in users to their fixed lines as there is a fixed monthly charge for that.
Edit: upgrade pre-sales information and connection reliability rating due to latest improvements.
