I never wanted to go with DSL in the first place. Besides I always thought that we lived to far out from the central office. My dad decided he didn't want the high cost of cable and the service with Comcast Digital Voice, which was not reliable. We went back to AT&T for DSL (has not been a happy experience), satellite (which I absolutely love), and phone service (which is reliable).
Everything was a breeze to set up. We received our DSL modem via UPS less than a week after we ordered service. The installer came out on Oct. 18th to install the DSL. I then hooked up the modem and installed the software.. I already had a router so no need to re-wire or anything.
My speeds are as advertised. We have the pro 3 MB down and 512 up. I am getting used to the speed which is slower than what I had with Comcast. The service has been fairly reliable. There have been a few slowdowns. I had trouble accessing BBR for a couple of days. Those problems seem to be resolved.
We have had problems with email. Getting my domain email to work has been such a headache. If AT&T had a friendlier email set up, I might be happier.
I originally wrote the review in a time of frustration.
Update: Thanks to a respondent to my review and help from the AT&T Southwest forum, I got my email problem resolved by creating a subaccount. It's nice to know that email accounts can be added.
Update 2/2/08 - I am still having outgoing email issues with my domain. I am not a happy camper about this. I believe that I have the correct settings.
Update 9/16/08 - Things are going well with AT&T. I've not had any problems in a long time.
