    My Other Reviews·RoadRunner Cable
Update: 9/5/07: Still going strong with Ameritech/SBC/AT&T/whatever DSL. My download isn't as great as it used to be, syncs at 2400ish instead of 3000 so I get around 220 KB/s max on downloads. Upload is decent at 512 kbps. It provides great pings in Battle Field 2, really can't complain. I am a bit spoiled when I have the Road Runner connection at school when I'm downloading at 650 kb/s, but this is the best I can get in this area. U-Verse is supposed to be here sometime next summer, we'll see.

Update: 6/17/05: Got another upgrade! This time I'm at 3000/512 for $24.99 now. It's pretty sweet. I'm getting 2478/427 so above 80% on both sides, very nice. I can't wait to download a lot of stuff with my new found speeds. I'm going to try to get a new modem too, I heard one can be had for just the price of shipping. I've had the modem since August of 02, and it's served me well, but I want something a little more recent. Once again, strong recommendations of SBC DSL for anyone who can get their service. It's also now $14.95 for new customers on their Express package which you get 1500/384 speeds which is pretty nice for a few bucks more than cheap dial up.

Update 5-10-03: Well recently I upgraded my connection to 1500/128 for the same price of the 768/128. The only downside is that my upload sync went from 160 to 128 which now brings my upload to 109 instead of 136 I was getting. I am in another 1 year contract which is great because mine was going to run up in August, so I have another year cable free! My speeds are 1270s-1280s/109. I'm very happy for the doubled download speed for the same price. I'd recommend SBC DSL to anyone.

Well after a long long time of having to suffice with the local cable, I was finally able to get DSL for 30 a month. The speed package is 768/128 which is a ton better than my 128/128 cable. I got my equipment 2 days before my activation date(7th) when I found that the power cord didn't quite fit into the modem, and no lights came on. So I call Ameritech and they say well you have to wait until the 7th to get any help. So I wait and call back then and they decide to send me a whole new modem kit, which I still have to return the other. That came this Monday the 12th, and since then it has been great. Tech Support is alright, but not all there. They put me on hold like after every 2 sentences to figure out what I have already told them. I told the dude, Hey I need a new power cord for my modem since it doesn't fit, and they ask all these newbie questions like does the outlet you are plugging it into work, and are you sure you have it in the right spot in the back of the modem. I guess a lot of newbies must call them then. Oh well hopefully I won't have to call them a lot.

    Modem: Efficient 5360

    IP: Dynamic

Use WinXP's built in PPPoE to connect.
