Good bye BA ISP !!!!!
I finally decided on another ISP provider. Somewhat a mom and pop operation but it cannt be much worse then BA.
Hmm... cancellation of ISP service by email was ignored.
Only other alterternative maybe not to pay the bill or wait hours on the phone.
New provider: Over 700kbps SDSL, 16 static IPs, news, email, DNS, free install, free router, NO WinPoet (as far as I know), no port blocking (firewall) and about the same price. I lose about 30% on download speed compared to BA.
Problems: -Maximum download speed is 1Mbps and not 7Mbps. -Frequent disconnections. -WinPoet software incompatible with some applications. -No static IPs. -Terribly unreliable connection. -Lag ! A analog modem user with a different ISP was about the same as BA DSL. -Tech support people seem to hate BA even more then the customers. -Tech support. Extremely few competent workers. -Billing errors. Errors are always over charge mistakes and never under charge mistakes. Hmm.... highly suspicious pattern. -TOOOOO many ports blocked. Many applications dont work. -CHEAP DSL equipment.
Good: -On a rare occassion someone intelligent is on the phone. -Faster installation then a none baby bell ISP. -24/7 tech support. -My ISP/voice/wireless could be with the same company. -Excellent effort by a very small minority of the employees kept impressed me.
