Value for money:

I've had midco for about a year now (formerly US Cable) and what really prompted me to write this review was after I was forced to get windstream at my business.

Going from my midco line, to the windstream line at work really puts the overall value I'm getting into perspective. At my place of business, I'm paying 80 bucks for 12 down and 1 up, in both cases I'm only getting about 80% of that though, even though I'm literally 1 mile from their main pipe in the center of town.

With my midco line, in many cases I'm getting far and above what I'm paying for (12/1.5) with my actual download speeds many times in the 15 Mb range and uploads into the 2.2 Mb range.

In comparision, it's a far faster, far more stable connection at a better cost, and at 5pm when my windstream line is clogged and bogged down, I'm pulling the same speed on the midco line as I would at 2 or 4 in the morning.

When you call customer service, they know what they're talking about and are going to dick you around, much more than I can say about windstream's reps, to whom I had to explain the difference between megabit and a megabyte (no, I'm not kidding unfortunately.)

Just my experience thus far, but these dudes know what they're doing, and have made me a very happy customer.

Update - 11-11-12 - They've just expanded their service in my zip code, I'm now getting about 34 megs down and 5 up, wow. What a massive difference in speed. Line is still stout as ever, and still blazing fast. Highly recommend.

As an aside, still on my windstream line at the office in town. Hurts, but one day I'm praying a suitable provider will pull a line over to that side of town. For now, I come home to do my large uploads.
