Well, WestPA.net had a contract with Youngsville cable. Once that contract was up Youngsville cable went with some out of state provider who sucks!
So, WestPA began stringing there own fiber! Awesome really but the problem is it is a slow process and not available in Youngsville anymore. I have WestPA.net Fiber out of luck, no other reason. I am one of the very few (less than 10) in Youngsville. They are working on it though, they bought a few cable companies and are moving it up to fiber.
I am connected via fiber directly to a Cisco switch which trunks me right to the main data center of WestPA and then I go to the net. It of course is sweet. Fast, but speeds do not stay steady. The speeds do not drop under 5mbps but they usually stay at around 11MBPs which is great. They have some network tweaks to do but I am not complaining (BTW, did I say it was symmetric?)
Overall there are some changes going on and keep checking in the future.
I think you will see WestPA.net fiber everywhere in this area in a few years.

Been running pretty well for quite some time.
About 2 months ago WestPA did an upgrade and now I am able to get 3MB/1.5MB, pretty good and consistently 3/1.5M. Compared to DSL in my area (400k/144k is what I got) the speeds are considerably higher.

Compared to Verizon, a big company, WestPA.net really wins with service. With high speed cable access my uploads are faster than Verizon downloads. Browsing is "snappy" and service is up 100%.
WestPA.net uses class of service to support VoIP so my Vonage works great over this cable system. My downloads are consistent and my uploads are great.
I can call a local person, and actually get real people.
