Value for money:
(ratings match consensus)
Ordered online, and it failed at the end. Page said to call them, so I did.
After about 20 minutes on the phone, service was set up and scheduled to be active within a few days. Phone rep was friendly and did not hassle me, or insist on NEEDING phone service - Finally, DSL without a phone line, with no hassle. I was slightly (pleasantly) shocked to find this to be true after years of debate on the matter.
Had a modem (/router) from a friend, and my own router. Connected the modem and went through the self install steps, and was online in about 10 minutes. I then configured it in "Bridge Mode" (Thanks to a GREAT post from this site: »AT&T Southeast Forum FAQ »Bridge Mode for the 2Wire 2701HG-B), set my router up with the info it needed, and all is good.
So far, it seems steady. 6Mbps plan for $25/mo. (768Kbps up, for 12 moths, after which, they say it'll be ~$48, but I'll likely have moved by then).
Getting a consistent speed, and the setup was straightforward, with no hassle.
For the promo price, it's a good deal, and the service in this area seems stable (66502 - 66503).
From what I read online, the next lowest speed (3Mbps) was the same promo price, so it was kind of an obvious choice.
Able to stream Netflix in HD (but not "X-HD" on PS3 - but there isn't a ton of difference at that point. It's certainly decent quality), fast response for other uses. So far, so good.
I doubt I'll exceed the 150GB cap that is in place now, but if I do, the paperwork said that they'd waive it up to two times (if their meters are even working right at this point?), and that it's $10 for 50GB extra, which, at least they are up front about.
