Value for money:
(ratings above consensus)
After my promotions with AT&T U-verse ended, the service became too expensive and I switched to WOW. Although the service was just installed today, I have had WOW in the past, so I feel I can still make an honest assessment. If anything changes I'll update the review.
The installer was on time, I got an automated call about a half hour before he came giving an estimated time of arrival. He was polite, and took about an hour to an hour and a half.
The Internet is 8 meg, which I have been getting slightly above on speed tests (in contrast with AT&T where you get slightly less than your advertised speeds).
In terms of cable, I get digital value with an HD-DVR. In comparison with U-verse's compressed HD channels, the picture quality is beautiful, I love it. However, the software of the boxes is extremely outdated. It looks just like it did a decade ago. Changing HD channels can take 5-10 seconds, on U-verse it was instant. WOW is very behind the curve and the competition when it comes to their cable set top boxes.
Word on the street is Docsis 3 is coming soon, but I hear of no plans to get their cable box software up to date, which is a shame.
Update 9/22 - I'm dropping the cable tv. I don't watch it enough to justify paying for it.
