I cannot remember the last time my service worked correctly. I have called Mediacom out multiple times and the problem still remains.
I have my cable modem in plan sight. When I am on my laptop, I will be browsing the Internet and every few minutes I notice a lag. I will look at my modem and will notice that the Online light on my modem is out. After a minute or two the connection comes back on.
When the service is working the bandwidth is always between 1 to 5 Mbps. I am paying for MAX service. I am paying for service that I am not receiving.
I called support on Monday and waited for about 5 minutes..I was disconnected from the call. This has happened a couple of times. I also called couple of times I got a "global support" rep that I could not understand. Tuesday I went by my local office to schedule a service call. The rep told me someone would be out Thursday. The rep came out Friday. I was not a home but my wife was. He stayed 5 mins and told my wife that we had the fastest service on the block. Again my service disconnects are intermittent, 5 mins is nowhere near long enough to troubleshoot the service.
Why don't I change service? I can't! I live in a small town. In the area that I live mediacom is the only choice. If you have a choice I hope this review helps you make up your mind.

I will be happy to look into your issues and schedule for a tech to come out and investigate the issue. If for any reason the tech is unable to resolve the issue, I will escalate the issue to the area manager to take a look at it as well.

Our family uses the Internet three different ways. We use it with our home phone through vonage, with a roku to watch netflix, and with our laptops to browse web sites and check email. Every (not sometimes) we use the Internet service it will cut out for about a minute then come back on. I know this because the cable modem light labeled online will turn off for about 30 secs then come back on. This means that if we are talking on the phone our conversation will be dropped, or if watching netflix we will have to go back to the main menu and restart the video, or if browsing the Internet we will get "page cannot be displayed" errors.
We cannot predict when the service will cut out. It is not every 5 min, 10 min, etc... but it will happen at least 2 or more times per hour.
Cable Modem > Router
> Wireless LAN from Router > Laptops
> Wire from router > Roku and Vonage
Action that I have taken includes
Bought new cable modem and replaced the leased modem
Replaced Cable from wall jack to cable modem
Re: Support Good for mediacom for putting a well qualified rep to monitor this forum. They need more reps like him. He got more done than my multiple calls into the support number. My Internet is back up and running.
