I'm a new Cox HSI customer. I had Earthlink DSL using Covad over a Qwest phone line. I was on the outer edge of DSL availability. Between the phone line and Earthlink, I paid $65 a month for 300kbs up and down.
I ditched my landline and went with Cox's lowest-priced tier (1500 kbps for $30 a month). I get exactly 1500kbs up. It's worked perfectly for the past 4 days. I had trouble attaching my router to the modem (a Motorola unit which I purchased from newegg, instead of from Cox). It seemed like I needed to power off/on the modem, then power off/on the router to get them to sync up. (I don't know what I did to finally get it to work.).
Cox was prepared to get me installed the next day after my call. But, the installer would only run a cable on the outside wall, and drill inside. That looks ghetto. So, I had to wait six more days for a morning appointment and someone to go in the attic to run cable down an interior wall (for about $70 I think).
I like that there's no contracts.
I can't comment on tech. support or services because I've not used them yet.
I might upgrade to a higher bandwidth tier. I wanted to start out at the lowest because it's (much) more than I was getting with DSL. And, I wanted to see if I got the advertised speed. I do.
