Pre-sales information was fine from what I can tell, My family and me went to a local cox service center July 11th 2006 , days before someone told us it was actually available which got me excited! Why? cause dialup and satellite suck!!. They Gave us a little chart thing with all their different speed packages, we selected the best one and got a special offer of first 3 months for 10$ off and were ready to be hooked up. 124$ down covered the modem, installing/line burying, and the first month of service(15/2) which isn't bad at all when you consider things like satellite 500$ equipment.

The install date was July 17th, 12-2 pm.

Installer got there at 11:30, a little bit early.

Getting everything setup and installed took a few more weeks than it should have, but I still think the installer deserves a good rating, heres why.

The installer said due to the distance between our home and the pole where they had their main lines set up, it would probably not be possible to hook it up because he did not have a high enough grade line to cover such a long distance(I believe it was 200 feet?) He really doubted the line he had would work at all, but to not leave us empty handed he tried it anyway, and it worked just fine! From the start I was getting speeds of 10/2 out of the 15/2 we got, which is very good considering the situation, I even got a 14/2 results test later on which is more than acceptable. He said due to the condtions the connection would die frequently, but we just said that is fine since he did all he could do. and guess what? it only died maybe once every few days for a few seconds, thats hardly frequent!

He called the company before he left to let them know we would need a bigger wire later on.

A few weeks later a new crew came out, disconnected the "weak" wire with a much thicker higher-grade one, and then buried it, everything went fine.

So all in all, I would say for the situation the install went just fine, it did not even cost any extra to have the line replaced with a better one later on, and it worked just fine for the 2 weeks we had it, so the install definitely gets a high 4 stars.

**2 YEARS LATER* it has been almost 2 years now since we got our connection, so I figure now is a good time to fill out things like connection reliability.

We have had a few random disconnects, and one time we had a big wind storm which let a tree fall on the line and disable it for a day or two, but that is hardly their fault. I would give the reliability a mid 4 stars, it has been annoying sometimes and therefore can't be perfect but I bet it could be much worse if you are unlucky.

I don't know what "services" mean, but I would definitely say the value for money is a great 5 stars. Since we ordered it we downgraded to 5/2 from 15/2 cause having such a high download speed had no justice for the extra 15$, 5/2 has been working just fine since, I like how for the first 10 seconds of the download you get a speedboost putting you at 1500KB/sec before dropping to the 5mb/sec standard of 556K/sec or so. Considering we were paying 89$ a month before just for 100K dialup(2 phone lines combined) the value is great for ANYBODY, except maybe people who are used to fios :P Even then, I bet they would not complain.

There is a 40GB cap, but I download alot sometimes and never came close to it in 2 years, so who cares!

Overall... this service had been great, maybe I am being a little over biased since my only other options would be back to dialup or try the horrible satellite connection. actually screw that, I would take my dialup back before trying that bullcrap.. :P Even so, I still say even for anybody this service would be a good choice.
