We first got rogers high speed lite as an upgrade from dialup, since it was around the same price back then (19.95 for dialup or 24.95 for rogers, so we went for it.)
It then got upgraded a few times, with no extra charge. (A nice bonus!)
Then, the price got "upgraded" a few times, with no service boosts.
They just keep raising the price slowly by 1 or 2 dollars here, adding in modem rental fees which we didnt have to pay before.. etc. until they end up getting almost 1.5x what we originally signed up for.
installion, as far as i can remember (it was 5 years ago) was quick, a technician came to our house to put in a dedicated line to the modem. He started to drill a hole in our wall, and got 3/4 full when we stopped him and asked why he was doing that and not just putting it under the floor...
So he put it under the floor, and left a hole in our wall.
Supplied modem worked fine, and was upgraded for "free" about 2 years ago (then they started the modem rental fee up).
Good things about it - it was almost always up. Only downtimes were when the whole cable line was out on the street, or when they would disconnect us without notice, and would only tell us when we call in 4 days later wondering why we have no service.
Bad things - download speeds are throttled, for the price, speeds are very slow (we now have 5x the speed with dsl for $5 less per month...)
Tech support was a joke.. I am by no means a computer expert, but I'll bet I know more about how to fix these problems than those guys.
