DW7000 with pro plan 1.5, with equipment upgrade to 2 watt transmitter and larger dish.

I ordered direct from Hughes, got the impression that the local installer wasn't real interested in providing the best service/installation. Very little, if any explanation on the system. Pretty much here it is - sign here.

The first month or so, I was impressed with the speed and reliablity, then around the first of June, things started going down hill. Speeds are all over the spectrum, but very seldom close to rated speed, and several times dial up could have been faster. Get lots of server timeouts on email, and or errors, especially when trying to load emails off my AT&T accounts. Have checked repeatedly and to my knowledge have never reached the FAP. Throughout the day there are hugh fluctuations in service. Also, cloud cover, haze, etc., can really cause problems - problems that were supposed to be minimized by spending extra for the equipmennt.

Have called tech support 3 times, once was an acceptable experience, 2 times were not.

Overall, I've never had a previous experience with satellite internet. I've had DSL for years, so maybe that ruins everything else. I know unless satellite providers can improve their connection, speed, and reliability, DSL will never have to worry about competition from them.
