Have had a TWC 15mb/2b RoadRunner Business Class connection for years. Added a Windstream 12mb/768kb DSL connection in mid-2008 as a secondary connection for redundancy. Windstream offered a bundle deal and I was able to add the DSL for $5 more than what I was already paying for local service and features.

Promptly received install kit with a SpeedStream 4200 (3 days). Service was not initially provisioned at 12mb. I was only getting the 6mb tier. It took a couple of calls to tech support which was not a good experience. The TS was outsourced to some overseas outfit that was horrible. It took about ten days for them to correct the problem locally.

My speed and service have been very consistent. I have learned that I have new equipment to service my area which contributes to the service. A little reading around on the Windstream forum indicates that this can vary greatly by market (not unlike some other providers as well). I suggest that you research options and service experiences in your area before signing up.

In December, 2008, I began to experience connectiity issues. I discovered that I had some inside wiring issues (wire was 18 years old and I had some exposed copper at the NID that needed repair). I decided to install a home run cable for the DSL modem and to request a new NID be installed with a DSL filter. A call to Windstream support revealed that they have moved their support back to the US! This was a great move for Windstream. They sent me an updated SpeedStream 4200 for good measure. A few days later, the tech came and did the outide work. Modem stats reveal zero errors on my connection.

I use a D-Link LB-604 dual WAN router for my dual service. I generally direct my VOIP traffic over the DSL while sending all my Web surfing and IPTV over the Cable service.
