When AT&T raised my DSL rate to $43/month for what was a rock solid 5Mbps line, I decided I'd look into other options. My only other option is Charter. I have not gone with Charter recently (ok, in the last 10 years) due to a bunch of horrid customer service interactions with them a number of years ago. After AT&T raised my rate (again), it was time to bite the bullet and at least speak with Charter.

I used their on-line chat to gather information, and all the customer service reps I chatted with seemed to be just fine. I then spoke with a couple of local tech about networking issues in my home. Both of them were very up to date on the topic. So I pulled the trigger and now I have a pretty solid 30Mbps. the only issue that popped up was the installer was not up to speed on plugging the internet signal into a router. He had the correct settings for my router but it would not work. After trying a few things, I ended up power cycling all the devices involved and brought them up in this order 1) modem 2) router 3) all other devices. Everything works like a champ now. I did not call for tech support for the router issue, so I did not rate that aspect. Thus far I'm very pleased with my service.
