    My Other Reviews·Packet8
I ordered the 3mb service for $27 for the first six months. I had the installer come out to my house after I moved there, and we tried to find the ped. We found one two lots over, and had to have a new drop to the house, which leaves a long unexposed wire in my yard for 6-8 weeks. When they come to bury the cable, they had best not hit my sprinkler system! The house had never had cable before, so we had to install everything brand new. Inside the wiring is old, so there was some signal loss. After they called in the modem, the tech changed my IE homepage even after I expressly asked them not to, and changed some cookie, and network settings. Not happy with that, just did a quick system restore. After it was online, I has 384k speeds, which made me a bit mad, so we both called Charter, and they fixed it. So now I have close to my max speeds, so everything is fine. It is the end of day one. I'll update when they come to bury the cable, or we run into major problems.

Update 6/24/07: Internet has been mostly solid, occasional downtime or awful pings. When they came to bury the cable they found a different ped in my lot in some bushes. They brought a machine and tore a big straight path through my bushes, but I got a much shorter run and better signals. Utility companies came and marked everything. Never turned the sprinkler back on after the $500 water bill, doubt they hit it though. Line was buried about 6 inches deep. They will not give me credit for terrible performance when I call, so I have just stopped. The only thing that I REALLY have to complain about is the lack of speed. We are currently on a 5 down "Preview" that lasts until December, and then are back down to 3. Other ISPs offer so much more speed for the same price. Charter is always behind the times.
