Our cable TV had been having problems since before 2000. Our basic/analog cable had ghosting. So we upgraded to digital. That gave us: tiling (visible pixels while watching T.V.), random T.V. service disconnects (making the tv picture stutter and the sound go away temporarily), and for some reason, we also started to get internet disconnections - so bad that we had DAYS when we couldn't use the internet.
Thankfully, our service has finally been repaired. It took about three years of successive technician appointments and four Supervisor service calls to get someone up on the telephone pole to troubleshoot the problem. We had to call our local Escalated Customer Services Department (after scouring the comcast website to find an email address that went to HQ in Philly), and have those technicians come out about 4 times for repeat repairs/new problem discoveries.
I'm now a pretty happy camper and I'd give our local technicians (the "SuperTechnicians" - the ones that were willing to climb up the telephone pole when everything checked out inside the house) very high scores for problem diagnosis skills, as well as the lengths that some of them went to to figure out what was wrong with our service. This was absolutely fantastic. The downside is that we couldn't find (get) these experienced repair techs (out to our home) sooner.
Overall, while Comcast service is relatively good, they REALLY need to improve the way they deal with customers who have service problems. The last time we tried to get an issue escalated, it was horror on the telephone. They need some major work on that side of things. Otherwise, the service is solid.

| No way After all your frustrations, and still having to pay the full bill while trying to diag the problem., I'am surprised your staying with them, even at free service, there is NO WAY,i would want to have castrate( i mean comcast), simple for the the reasons you mentioned (CSR support, tech support, ect) -- Some absorb information & learn, For some.information only goes in one ear & out the other. | |

2 edits | For us to get Satellite TV, we would have to cut down a few large trees.
Is there any other option than Cable or Satellite for T.V. services?
for internet, we'd just get DSL.
compared to comcast, at least for right now, it's a load faster. the downside is, we could only get the 1.5 package, but it's still faster than Comcast "High Speed" Internet.
another plus would (hopefully) be the reduction in service outages. we have an outage about once-per-day now.
I'll do one last service appointment with Comcast, and stretch out all my repair resources, but then, if nothing works, I'll ring them up to disconnect our internet service, and cable, if we can find an alternative other than Over the Air.

4 edits | Poof! Poof! - it seems to be working better. Possibly a long-term service issue with our entire neighborhood (the problem only lasted for 7 years). Nevertheless, it all works now; Analog TV, Digital TV, Interactive TV Guide, DVR, and High Speed Internet all work without a hitch - for the time being...

| Connection Speed + Cable TV All is well. It's a bit expensive, but I'd rather not have holes drilled in my roof for 4 satellite dishes in case I don't like satellite service because of the extensive weather outages.
I'm going to stop caring now...
...and enjoy.

| I would LOVE some help from COMCAST! DEAR COMCAST,
PLEASE POST A TELEPHONE NUMBER FOR ESCALATED SUPPORT. Our issue has been ongoing now for at least five years, and we need an internet connection for home business purposes. Our TV service is unreliable, as is our internet, which is also on and off. I must have called the 1-800-COMCAST and the 1-800-945-2288 at least thirty times and spent approxamately 40-60 hours on the phone troubleshooting the same problems with the telephone representatives over and over. I would love a working cable service as this is our only option for home internet service and television service.
I appreciate your help. | |
