UPDATE
Things have pretty much remained the same here. Triple play has arrived but I don't believe it's the $99 promo as once stated. Although I still can't log in to the comcast website to take advantage of their portals and some services. The only thing I am able to access is the Billing page (go figure); I signed up for them to notify me once my old adelphia account/email address have been converted over to a comcast account/email address but I haven't heard anything yet. Much smoother transition though in other areas compared to problems I've heard around the greater cities in the state and around the nation.
I am currently on the 6M/768k package on a promotion that first started with Adelphia in which Comcast will honor until the end date. Speed Test results:
Speed Test Result dslreports.com speed test from Speakeasy NYC,NY server: 5479 / 367 (Kbps) (668.8 / 44.8 KB/sec) Compared to the average of 4231 tests from comcast.net: * download is 13% worse, upload is 14% worse
I couldn't really judge the pre-sale info and pre-install coordination since it was a transition with nothing much changing except the name and speeds in my opinion. I have my own cable modem Motorola Surfboard which works well with both providers quite well while using a dynamic IP address connected via my Linksys wireless router with no problems (great pings for on-line gaming average 30ms)!
Ever since I heard about the transitions I've been waiting eagerly for the switch on October 9 for my area and so far expectations have exceeded those of Adelphia. I'll be sure to update back once the promotional period is over and I also made sure to wait 30 days from the transition date to Comcast to give an accurate review and will continue to do so in the future!
