Update - 10/22/2009 - Old style Cable Box crapped out as did the crappy RCA 425 modem. Their location is on my way, so exchanged the broken for new. 1 hr time investment, including drivetime and a short wait. No muss or fuss in the exchange. Calling support to activate Scientific Atlanta DPC2100R2, manuf date 06/09, Modem [they were out of Moto's] took under 10 minutes. All back on line and testing Speeds all are in order.
10/22/09 Comment: Trying to find out about what one gets with different levels of service, whether HSI, Phone or Cable is troublesome. They have many different sales channels, of which I know of 3 - 1. Comcast itself 2. Authorized Resellers and 3. Companies contracted to go door to door.
update - 9/23/09 Recently moved to a new location in PDX metro area and choice was Comcast or Qwest DSL - problem is phone lines are underground and there has never been a phone hook up at this 2 year old Manufactured Home. Plus the demarcation line for Verizon and Qwest is within this MH Park, so I could see problems in determining who provided what and where.
So wanting High Speed Internet quickly - Comcast was the choice. Ordering was fine
Install was 24 hours from 1st call and took hour to hookup TV and Internet. Only thing I did not like was the downloading and installing of Comcast Software [which has been removed].
Downloading files and programs seem fast, yet loading of pages seems slow at times with either Firefox or Internet Exploder. Speed tests here seem OK.
Old Review_-------Moved from this location 08/08: I am sharing with 2 others - all of my use is via a wireless connection to my laptop. So far no real problems. Have a batch file to do a ipconfig /release and ipconfig /renew, that needs to be run at times - never taken the time to determine if this is a wireless AP issue or Comcast issue.
Speed purchased is 6,000/384 - though with the 'boost' addition - get higher readings via speed tests on this site.
2/12/07 So far service has been okay [actually quite pleased with it, as the only other alternative is dialup], though there still seems to be times when the connection just seems to die.
I have yet needed to call tech support, as I am able to fix 99% of any problems, or use windows tools or downloaded tools to determine where the problem may lie in connection issues.
