Ordered in December as ATT Broadband. Was supposed to get a $50.00 installation credit but the installer didn't leave the coupon. Called AT&T and they credited my account immediately so that worked out OK. Installer insisted on using the AT&T software to configure my computer. I uninstalled it when he left and it works great without the software.

I've been using it for six months now and reliability has been great. The first couple of months I had to reset the modem every week or so but that hasn't happened for three months. Speeds are great even in the high traffic evening hours. I have had no reason to call tech support.

Now we'll see how the switch to Comcast goes.

7/1/03 Well, the switch from AT&T went very smoothly. I manually updated Outlook Express using settings I found here on Broadband Reports. It took about 10 minutes to switch my four email accounts and newsgroup settings. So far email forwarding seems to be working OK. Also, I have been getting email at my new addresses OK with only a couple of time-outs due to overloaded servers. I expect that that will cease as they get a handle on things. So, to sum it up, I guess I'm still a happy camper.

Oh yeah, one thing. They raised my monthly charge from $42.95 to $52.95 even though I thought I was under a one year contract with AT&T. I called and they said that I wasn't under a contract. Luckily, my employer covers the cost of this service or I would have shouted louder. Overall, it is still an OK deal for the money but the price is getting up there.

8/6/2004 Well, I got nagged by Broadband Reports to update this but there's really not much to say. I suppose I could have ignored the nag but thought I would go ahead and say that my experience this past year+ has been very good. I think that I have had two or three downtimes but they were fixed in a matter of minutes to a couple of hours -- every time before I had to call. I would say that that is good service. I got the 3 MB upgrade with no problem and the service is nice and fast. I would like them to turn on traffic shaping in my area but that hasn't happened yet. My price is still $52.95.month. Luckily, my employer covers this cost as I have a home office. If it wasn't for that, I would probably look at cheaper (DSL?) options. Anyway, my overall score for Comcast would be about an 8 out of 10.

4/11/2009 My Comcast service has been rock solid with so few very minor outages that I can't even remember the last one. Absolutely no complaints about service quality. The price is now up to $64.95 per month ($54.95 for high speed internet + $10 for Blast!). I only subscribe to high speed internet from Comcast and, thus, do not get the benefit of any bundling discounts. Along with the price increase, they have significantly upgraded the speed of my service (I am on what they call the Blast! tier). This has been great -- both download and upload speeds are very, very fast. Overall, I am very happy with Comcast. My only minor gripe is the monthly cost -- perhaps some FIOS competition would help but I am not sure that even that would result in a lower monthly cost.
