Ok at the beginning of the month, I ordered the optimum triple play for around 90 dollars a month. However the cable package really cost 6.95 more a month for the cable box. Ok for the online portion. I have had this service for around 3 or 4 days now. There have been no outages that I have seen yet.

I chose the regular optimum package and not the boost. Which is promised 15mbps down and 2 mbps up. On dsl reports I got around 13 Mbps down and 1.8 mbps up. Not most of the promised speed is there. During busy parts of the day my connection went down from 13 mbps to 8mbps. Not bad, still plenty and plenty of bandwidth.

When I had verizon I had to change my wiring to get the promised 3mbps down. My connection would have to be fixed around every month. There would even be times when both the phone and the internet was down. Bottom line this is a great competitor to Verizon's DSL and probAbly FIOS as well. But FIOS I think has higher upload.

Choice between FIOS and Cable, I think I would choose FIOS for the higher upload because i am a power user. However if you don't need that much upload then Cable is more than plenty. Optimum has the 2nd most generous upload I have seen though. 2mbps upload is almost unheard of.

    I would defeintaly recommend them.
