I currently reside in Amityville, NY. Prior to 3/04, I resided in Copiage. (next town). While is Copiage, the service was great. In three years, the internet only went down twice. (Once systemwide, once a truck hit a main point.) I moved to Amityville, and was told by the prior tenant that he was told by Cablevision, it if he took internet the wiring must be changed as it is not Broadband compliant. When installed the installer refused to listen and set up the TV, phone and internet. We kept losing the phone and sometimes also the internet. I had three repair persons come and no one wanted to rerun the wiring. (One could not even open the junction box.) Finally after missing work two times, a supervisior came out and reran the wiring and I have not had ny bad problems since then. I have a router with four computers connected. My average download speed is 600KBps. (At my old address average was 700 kBbs.)
Last Saturday night the speed dropped to 136 KBps. I called service and went through their protocol of disconnecting wires, etc. I was told it was my router. They were of no help. They did not declare a system problem until 3:00 AM. It effected 5or 6 towns. A router went and was not replaced until Tuesday morning. When you called for an update, you learned that some of their techs were not aware of where he outage and had to be told we were part of it.
What anoys me is that I have the service for around four yearsor so. Now they are offering for one year the seervice of IO TV, internet, and phone service for new customers for $89.85 per month. I pay $167.00 for the same service. No rewards given to to old time customers who by word of mouth got them new customers and deserve a break.
