None. I can't think of anything good to say about Adelphia. Honest!
The slowest connection speeds (Avg 350K), dropped connection, Poor Tech Support
Adelphia sucks in Ashburn, VA 20148. I left Cox Cable when I moved to my new house in Ashburn. I regret moving now!

I came from Cox Cable. They kicked Adelphia's ass in speed and connection reliability. The first week of service showed outages including my video services. Tech support was not helpful and where unaware that in Ashburn, VA 20148 the Powerlink and video serivces are horrible.

Speed has been dissapointing. The best I've seen is 530 kbps down and 256 kbps up, with the average being about 350 kbps down. These tests were done in the first week of service and consistantly every week or day. Adelphia's service its not anywhere near the advertised 3000 kbps download/256 kbps upload (yeah...right!). Marketing...bunch of liars!! I hate watching those ads when people are happy about the speed. They don't live in Ashburn, VA 20148. I call it the Black Hole of the Adelphia Powerlink service.

One gripe I have with Adelphia... is nobody in Customer Service or Tech Support seems to be aware of how bad the service is in my area AShburn, VA 21048. I've finally contacted the local office and explained that I am frustrated with the slow connections speeds.

It's been about 2 months now since service began and its gotten worse, not better. Speed is consistently less then 500Kb/s (download), sometimes even slower then upload speed! Have called tech support many times, and they constantly blame everyone else in their own company before looking at the problem. Also, and this is the biggest aggravation...the system bounces up and down every hour or so. I watch the cable modem's lights blink out, then the unit resets. I've had Tech Support come to my house to check the line at least 5 times in the last 2 months. Again they blame the servers or the local office and claim there is no line problem. The last tech guy finally found out that I needed an attenuator to lower the signal so the modem would stop resetting.

Connection is more reliable now but the download speeds are still horrible. I hate it!

Adelphia in Amherst Co rocks.

I have Adelphia and suffered dropped connections. The root of all my problems. A Toshiba modem!! I got rid of it and got a Motorola Surfboard 5100 and have not been dropped since. One of the techs that came out made the comment that every time he sees a problem and Toshiba modem is used, it has been the problem. Moral of the story, if you have a Toshiba modem and Adelphia Cable, get rid of the modem. The two don't mix. My speeds are fast and always have been. I get a constant 3000+ down and 250+ up. It has been that way for a long time, so I cant complain. Good luck with yours and check that modem.

Re: Adelphia in Amherst Co rocks.

Here are some speed tests that I have run. There is a test that shows 934 down, but I think it was the test server and not my line. I did anther test off of a different server and was right back up over 3000 down.

Re: Adelphia in Amherst Co rocks.

I cannot agree more with you. I live in Erie Pennsylvania and have nothing but trouble with my Adelphia Powerlink. I cannot stay connected online for more than 30 minutes if I'm lucky before I get kicked off game servers. I had a new line placed directly to the modem but still no luck. I only average 300k downloads and even worse uploads. I hope they can get their act straight, I would switch to a new provider if I had that option

Re: Adelphia in Amherst Co rocks.

I have Adelphia cable also , I live in New York 14127 I have at most 1300 download and consistant 240 upload , everyone i know from other states pay much less for way better speeds , I also tried complaing and tech support tells me quote> We only gaurentee a connection not speeds .I play online games and if im on one pc downstairs and son plays upstairs then my pings go up to 600 or more . so either he gets to stay on or i do ..I also know that this surfbaord modem we have can be tweaked higher but of coarse they wont , i have a buddy who is like 10 miles away and has Adelphia and he can easily play 2 pc with games , Im only asking to get what im paying for .i am paying over 100.00 a month for cable internet and cable tv with HBOS ..Is there a way to resolve this problem?/

Re: Adelphia in Amherst Co rocks.

hey zerodownload
the first thing i would do is check your own signal to cable modem, this can be done by opening browser and going to 192.168.100.1 , then click on signal

Signal to Noise Ratio >>>33 dB if this number is below 30 then there is probably a problem

also a call to check which TFTP Config File is assigned to the cable modem or ask them for a retail or generic file

this should solve your problems, especially in the buffalo area where there is almost never a speed issue, its like the flagship network for adelphia.
