At my university, the apartments (we do not have dorms), feature an Ethernet jack in the wall to use to connect to the internet, which turned out to be a Time Warner RoadRunner business line.
So, first day it was activated (I was already living in the apartment beforehand, and was using the campus wifi for net access), I hooked up my router and was treated to FREE 3mbit down, 3mbit up speeds (as well as free digital cable). The system ties the MAC addresses of my computers/routers to my name in their system. Curious as to why they did this, I logged into my "internet account" to discover a variety of tools, such as an option to manually add in MACs for other computers (each has its own IP address), and an option to upgrade my speed.
Of course, FREE 3/3 is all most people would ever need, but being the big gamer, video streamer, webmaster that I am, I looked into faster speeds. And what did I see? A great deal!
$100 for 5 months of 10mbit down, 10mbit up! (no contract!, once 5 months was up, I would automatically be downgraded back to the free 3/3) So, about $20 a month for 10/10, no contract, I jumped at it.
It has been a smooth ride (have had it for about 6 months now), haven't encountered any limits or caps, and best of all, the connection works even if the power is out! (when I use my laptop, modem down the hall must have backup generators).
Overall, I couldn't ask of more that I am getting for this price.
UPDATE: They must have upgraded my speeds: »www.speedtest.net/result/408659457.png
Everything else is still going fine!

2 edits | Re: no such thing Like I said, it is offered through my university, in university owned and operated apartments.
My speed tests, hostmasks, and ip addresses all say RoadRunner Business, and on the day it was activated, every student received handouts about the services (info about the internet connection, cable tv channel listing, notice that the campus wifi was going to be turned off in favor of this new roadrunner connection, etc.), and it said "Time Warner" on every single piece of paper.
Unless my speed tests, hostmasks, ip addresses, and all the information that they gave every single student on campus is wrong, then I do have this package.

Would do one now, but I am maxing out my upload right now.
Also, when doing trace routes, I am going through the roadrunner backbone. | |
