    My Other Reviews·AT&T Southwest
I have only had this service for two weeks now, but it has been very fast. Advertised speeds are 5mbit/384k, my actual throughput is more like 8mbit/400k.

Install was easy & fast, and I have data only service. The price is equivalent to DSL which is no better or worse bargain to me since I don't need a landline nor do I care about having cable TV so I can't bundle the cable internet either for any savings.

The installer, however, did not take my first payment as I was told he would, so I have received a bill for it.

Supplied equipment is an obviously used Motorolla SB5100 Surfboard. It was supplied with a short cable lead and ethernet cable, so I had to use my own ethernet to reach the computer. The tech did not hook up my home router, nor did he understand how to connect to the modem with firefox because apparently there was no go button to click next to the address bar. IE7 (once I showed him how to run it without a shortcut) even seemed to cause him to stumble a bit. Nonetheless, setup went pretty smoothly.

Annoying bits though were the all-day install appointment. I had to wait at home from 8am to whatever time he decided to show up - which was 4:45pm. Cost me a day of work. I would have MUCH preferred a self-install option, just pick up the equipment and do the in-home part of the install myself, and let the cable tech handle the box outside on his own time. But RR does not seem to offer that.
