I moved from New Hampshire to Largo, FL and I first ordered internet and phone service at a bundled price. I was going to get DirecTV for TV service but couldn't get a signal. So I went to my local East Bay BHN location to add TV service at a bundled rate (digital combo plus). My original order included just one digital box so I asked several times if my install appointment the next day would have the techs bringing the three HD DVR boxes I wanted and they said yes.

So the Knight Communications contractors showed up and it seems they printed the work order as of the day before and not the current work order. So they didn't have any HD DVR boxes as was on my current work order. So I got my father to go pick up two HD DVR boxes at the East Bay office as the tech had one HD DVR on his truck. So while this was being done the tech was installing all the wiring. So all the wiring was done and the tech got the boxes installed and booted up. This tech didn't even check that VOD was working nor did he check that any channels would tune in. I ended up checking just the channels which came in fine so I let him leave with a twenty dollar tip. I can excuse the work order issue as I cannot fully know if the techs were the problem on this. They also spent quite a bit of time putting the wiring in. So my internet service was working fine.

The modem was installed but phone service wasn't going to be activated until a few days later. I was told this at the time I ordered service so that wasn't a problem. Now come the problems because later that day all of my HD DVR boxes could never access VOD and they would lose channels all during the day and night along with DVR service.

The end result is that a tech came out Sunday afternoon and had to put in "one" four way splitter instead of four two way splitters as these techs used. Once that was done it still didn't fix the problem and none of my boxes could get a two-way signal. To make the story short after almost an entire week and tons of phone calls using my cell phone they figured out it was an account issue that was screwing everything up.

Beyond that my internet DNS servers have been horrid which has resulted in switching to level3 DNS servers to have any decent internet speeds. Beyond the above the 8300HDC boxes have been very bad but they seem to be better the last few days. Phone service has worked without issues since activation except they never told me I had to reboot the modem to get the service working. It was activated at 3pm and after calling support at 9pm did I find out I needed to reboot the modem which got service working.

I know all of this above goes beyond internet service which is what this review is about but I think these issues are all related with how service in general is. As I see many customers reading these reviews who could be considering a switch to a double or triple play I felt it was my duty to let you be aware of these issues. I'm very happy when the service works but the problem is that it doesn't seem to work as often as it should when I'm paying close to 200 bucks a month. I was with Comcast for their triple play service in New Hampshire and lets just say the quality of the install and support is night and day and that is an understatement. I believe BHN needs some major rethinking of who they use to install their service because Knight Communications is "the" worst contractor I've ever dealt with.
