I'm a former Adelphia customer. TWC got my area. Prior to TWC's operational takeover in my area, I had nearly 7Mb/s down and 1+ Mb/s up. Once RR was fully implemented here, my speeds dropped to barely 5Mb/s down / 380 Kb/s up. They also prohibit users from using SMTP to send via their network unless the user is ON their network. Adelphia allowed the use of your UID and PWD to SMTP out. I can handle 5Mb/s down, but 384Kb/s up blows when you've had 1Mb/s.
I have to give them credit for taking over with minimum disruption though. Things have been pretty smooth and I know they're doing upgrades in my area too. Their customer support has been pretty good as well in terms of resolving issues. With Adelphia it could take weeks or months to get some network issues straightened out. In terms of speed consistency while slower than the former Adelphia service, their speeds tend to be less volatile. 5Mb/s at 07:00 is still going to be pretty close to 5Mb/s at 18:00.
