The story: I've lived here for a little more than 2 years now. It was comcast when I moved here. The service was really good overall. Speeds were fast, price was too high, but in line with most monopolistic services. I was generally happy... have really high reviews. Then a few months ago, TimeWarner takes over from Comcast. Just about the day they did, speeds slowed and my connection started going in and out. Tried new modem, tech, etc... no go. I have three friends on it also... two in McKinny and one in Frisco. All three experienced similar issues. Hopefully they will fix it, but that's the case now. I'll try to remember to update this if things change!
(FYI: They totally destroyed the nice Comcast TV service, but this isn't a TV board so I digress.)

| I Feel Your Pain! Same situation here! Had Comcast for over 2 years, everything was great until Time Warner took things over in August 2006, the first of September my internet started going out every night around 9pm when the sun went down and would stay out all night long. Tech support was absolutely no help, and the 8 techs sent to my house were even worse. The finger was always pointed at me and my computers. The techs would go plundering around in them and start changing things to try and fix the issues, when the issue was the outside lines. No one seem to care about my problem at all, it was impossible to get to someone higher up to speak with them. After 4 new modems, 8 techs out to my house, and supposedly 3 line techs that I never saw, on October 2nd I called it quits with Time Warner and went with DSLExtreme. Everything has been great every since! No down time and a constant connection night and day 24/7. I felt totally abandoned by Time Warner. It's so hard for me to fathom that a large company would just not address an issue that a customer had with not being able to get connected when for over 2 years prior had no problems at all. Now the issue I'm having with them is that they keep billing me for the internet every month and cant seem to take it off my billing cycle. Everytime I see their bill in my mail I go ahead and grab the phone and get in line on their phone system before I even open the bill because I know whats to come. Thank god I kept all my receipts, I suggest you do the same to avoid any problems. I couldnt believe that I could not get any help from this company on my internet service. I felt completely abandoned and left out in the cold. Everytime a tech would come out to my house to "look at things" they seem to get it going for a bit, and then as soon as the truck would get down the road, the internet would go out again. I would call them to see if they could send the guy back, and only thing they could do would be to schedule yet another tech to come out and go thru the same exact thing yet again. Well after a month I just got so tired of it. When it was Comcast they would have fixed my problem right away. Time Warner just didnt seem to care at all. I did not expect this from a large company. I wish I had never left my DSL to begin with. I had a great stable connection for over 4 years with them, but with Comcast promise of faster higher speed, I decided to switch and I do regret that until this day. I am much more happier with a connection that stays on 24/7 than one thats faster and never works. It hit me one day after I got my DSL back, "Now why do I need an 8MB download to begin with?" | |
