I've gone through a number of broadband ISP's - had @home for a year, ATTBI for a year, Comcast for a few months, SBC for a few months, and Roadrunner for going on 6 years now. I've gotta say that Roadrunner is by far the best broadband ISP i've had. Although their lowest support level assumes that you as a caller are a complete idiot and the read from a script, when you tell them up front that you know what you're doing, they're usually pretty good at listening. On the few times that i've needed a truck to come out, I told them at the beginning of the call the whole process I went through and they said "if you've already done all of that, we'll save some time and get the truck out to ya". ATTBI and Comcast never did that. My service has been stable - i can count on 1 hand how many outages i've had in the past 5 years, and I know 2 of them were due to tornadoes in the area.
For people who want their slower service, they offer a (not advertised) Roadrunner lite that helps cut the cost of broadband. I believe the speeds are 768kbps down/384kbps up.
Time Warner Roadrunner is definitely one of the best ISP's i've dealt with, and I recommend them to everyone I come across. They just recently increased their speeds again, which keeps me a happy customer. Standard RoadRunner speeds in Kansas City are 7mbps/512kbps, and for an extra $9.95/mo you can get RoadRunner Turbo at 15mbps/1mbps. I'm quite pleased with the speeds.
