Coming off of a local ISP's fiber link, which gave a steady 1M up and down (actually, the up was 128k), RoadRunner Western Ohio (now consolidated, I believe, into the Columbus, OH, office) provides a fast, reliable connection. Especially nice is the one-button internet on/off lock on the modem's top. I've had Earthlink on this same wire in the past, but their tech support was less than I expected and service termination was a lesson in DE-termination (no one wanted to let me and my $$$ go, they all loved me so ).
UPDATE: For an extra $9.95/month I was upgraded to 15M/768k and this proved to be problematic. Lots of streaming video kept the actual throughput erratic, and I live in a rural area where bandwidth shouldn't have been such a problem. I switched to Verizon Broadband (ADSL) and am happy with the decrease in monthly cost. Interestingly, for how we surf on my small home network, there doesn't seem to be the download lag with Verizon as there was with Road Runner.
