Have not had any real problems in the past year. When I have had to contact support, their phone support is awful. Fifteen minutes of arguing with the voice prompts only to find out all support is busy and someone will call you back in 2 hours. Still wish the price was a bit lower but right now it is all I can get.

Had to contact support due to low signal on both RR and video. Phone support didn't give me too much of a runaround with the "reboot the modem" stuff, scheduled an appointment within 48 hours, and diagnosed and fixed the problem withing 20 minutes of arriving on-time. Good support experience and otherwise service has been excellent. Their mail servers block a lot of valid email, however, especially if you use 3rd party domain services.

    Updated for new location:

6/12/06 Switched from Earthlink Cable to RoadRunner. Changeover was smooth except agent transposed numbers in original password. Needed to unplug modem for 1 minute to pick up RoadRunner IP. All RR services fail if you still have an Earthlink IP. Changing ISPs can also affect cable TV pricing if packages have changed since original signup.

Contacted TimeWarner-Western Ohio Business Class RoadRunner service via email...no response. Called and left a voicemail...no response. Called and happened to catch a sales rep in the office. We were quoted 512/128, dynamic, with up to 5 mailboxes for $70 plus a MINIMUM $200 installation fee. They had to do a "serviceability check" to quote the actual installation price, and that took 4 business days.

Following the serviceability check we were told that there would be no extra installation charges since it was a simple overhead drop from a pole about 80 feet away. We were told one week for installation. They called the day before the scheduled installation to push it back a day, and the installer showed up on time that day.

Installer (a contractor) was mostly incompetent. Did not install a weather box on the outside of the building, and did not connect the grounding block to a ground. He also stuck the modem on the shelf and said "That's all I do, I don't test it" and left. Needless to say, it didn't work.

TimeWarner Biz supprt was available without holding, and they concluded the modem was bad since the ethernet connection light only lit when it WASN'T plugged into the network. Unfortunately, the "technician department" was closed for the day and someone would call us first thing the next morning to come out and swap modems. First thing turned out to be noon.

They did send out an actual TimeWarner employee with a new modem by about 2PM, and he took care of business enthusiastically. Within 30 minutes everything was configured and up and running. Mail servers require authentication both inbound and outbound, and the login names vary from user to user@host.com seemingly randomly.

I do believe mom-and-pop businesses, which really don't use the Internet much more than a home user, get hosed by RoadRunner on price. We are happy, however, to at least have gotten some sort of broadband service since line quality and distance prevent DSL service. Dialup is also 26.4K in this area.
