I believe that Time Warner Cable RR is the best bang for your buck in NYC. The speed is good (although not quite as eye-popping as I had hoped) and the service is consistent. Compared to the other options, this is a no-brainer. I just hope that they keep up with their customers in terms of hardware. I wish we had speeds like OOL.
NOTE: I recently moved and the transition was relatively smooth. ONE MAJOR PROBLEM: as part of the move, TWCNYC/RR terminated my account and started a new one instead of just transferring. This move meant that my email address was killed and I was lucky to get it back after the move. Stupid policy on RR's part.
UPDATE: TWCNYC/RR's response time to network outages is painfully slow. When the network is up and running (which is most of the time), it works great. But if you have an outage, be prepared to be in the dark for days at a time. UPDATE: Had this happen again recently.
UPDATE: 1/1/08 - Excellent up time. But the speed increases should be rolled out much faster. We should be at OOL levels or faster. Overall very good service,
