    It has been a while since I last reviewed, today's date(11/03/08) I have had 3Meg service for approx 3years now. I have been satisfied with their service. Embarq is now offering 5Meg & 10Meg service but I am unable to get it because I am too far from their CO. I probably would not upgrade to either anyway because I am satisfied with their 3Meg service and it fits all of my Internet needs at this present time. Sometimes service goes out in the early morning hours(12:00am-4:00am) due to System wide Upgrades but this is understandable. I first ordered Sprint/Embarq 1.5 Meg DSL service back in Oct. 2004. I upgraded my service to 3Meg at my one year anniversary(Oct. 2005). Since the time I have had my Sprint/Embarq HSI service I have had A new drop(4-pair) from my home to the telephone pole near the highway that I live. I have had a new NID box replaced on the side of my home which splits my voice signal for my POTS line and my HSI service line. These lines needed replacing since the home where my phone service and High Speed Internet service is about 40 years old. Also replaced the line from my NID box to the phone jack where my modem is hooked up inside my house. Each time I have had sporadic outages Sprint/Embarq has been very responsive to correcting the problem and really the problem has mostly been on my end with old wiring needed replacing. When I first ordered Sprint HSI service I received a Zyxel 645ME-A1 modem from Sprint. I was hooked up on PPPOE(Dyanmic IP) service and Since EMBARQ has taken over Customer Service has informed me that they are upgrading their internet connectivity to DHCP. Last week Embarq customer service sent me a new Zyxel 660-R. Installation went flawlessley. I am 14,000ft. from the Central Office and I am getting 99% of my dowload speed. Speakeasy Speed tests show 2946kbps download. My old 645ME showed 2916kbps download. The new 660-R shows a slight increase in download speed which is great. Overall I am very satisfied with EMBARQ HSI service and phone service. I wish only that there were more options for High Speed Internet services which would make the prices more competitive. If it wasn't for Embarq I could not get decent High Speed Internet service since I don't consider Satellite an option. Today(Fri)05/04/07 download & Upload speeds began to drop dramatically. Download speeds dropped at times below half-Meg down on a 3.0meg down a & 512kbps upload package. Contacted Embarq tech support and ran through a series of tests before problem was escalated. Technician contacted me by phone from the CO location not too far from my residence @ 2:00pm. At or about 6:00pm technician contacted me again and said that he believes that they have my problem solved and indeed they did. I ran a speed test while on the phone with him and sure enough my download speeds were back up to a little over 3.0meg and my upload speeds had increased from 512 to about 626kbps. Technician informed me that they had to replace a "Card" at the CO. Overall I have been very satisfied with my EMBARQ DSL service and tech. support.
