I have the 1.5 service. Sprint installed the line and server as part of a promotion for no additional charge. I noticed that I was getting relatively slow service and noted that in an email message to them. They contacted me via phone and later that same morning the technician Joe made the hardware patch to the dsl box. The line were reconditioned and service is running very smoothly. I have a static ip and this is a business line and used by my CPA practice so that reliability is very important to me. The Sprint technician handled himself very professionally and was very courteous to us. A pleasure to deal with. I pay a little bit more than I paid Cox out in Henderson but the money is well spent.
Sprint doubled their speed to 3.0 and cut the price in half. You cannot beat that. I am a commercial user and found the service to be excellent. Virtually no problems and that is what I need is this competitive environment. I use "gotomypc.com" to link between my Nevada and New Jersey offices and the dsl service performs as advertised. No problems getting email as I had with Cox.
After having the service now for 9 months I can honestly say that we made the right decision to dump Cox. Reliablility has been excellent (rock solid) and we do not have any of the email problems we had with Cox. We can receive and send out large data files for our tax practice with zero problems. The static IP address gives us added reliability. We have offices on both the east and west coast and their service is on a par with Covad who we use of the East Coast. You may pay slightly more but we are willing to pay more for quality.
Here it in 2007. I have had excellent service from Embarq. I have a business account with them which does cost a little more but the support has been worth it. Our router died and Embarq sent out a very experienced technician. Lawremce was highly skilled and knew exactly what he was doing. He installed a new modem and reset the router and passwords...everything was done professionally. Telephone support has been excellent. I am going to 10 megs shortly. It is a little more expensive but you get what you pay for.
In August,2007 I encountered a problem with the DSL modem. The Embarq technician was a real expert. He fixed the problem and set up the wireless modem perfectly. A few days later Embarq upgraded the line to 10 speed. He did this off premises since I was at my office on the East Coast. I have a 10 meg line with a static IP. It is not cheap but I run a CPA office in Henderson Nevada as well as one on the East Coast so reliability is everything. I do not know if Embarq treats its residential customers the same way but as a commercial customer we pay a little more but the reliability and proficiency of the technican was commendable.
