I was previously an SBC customer, victim to their terrible static IP policies and pricing. Just recently, DSL Extreme expanded to the Sacramento area, and since they have a terrific reputation I decided to give them a try.
My SBC service was sync'd at 3008kbit/416kbit with 5 static IPs (bridged, reverse DNS possible) for $75/mo.
When I saw DSLX was available in my area, and that they were offering a promotion on the former "Expert Plus" speed teir, I immediately signed up as soon as I could. I now get 6016kbit/608kbit speeds, also with 5 static IPs (though not a full /29 block and you can't do your own reverse DNS which is ok) for only $60/mo!
So I'm saving $15/mo, and getting double the speed.
So far, the experience has been great. The order process was easy, and I was notified via email of the progress of the ISP switch order. I could track the progress DSLX had with talking to ASI via the "tickets" link on their web page. The only problem there as that I didn't know about it, until I happened upon it browsing their web page. So they may want to mention that in the initial email to the customer. But beyond that, the installation coordination/etc was great. The order was placed late on 8/23 and there were some initial hiccups with ASI but DSLX resolved them quickly and on 8/26 they gave me my install date of 9/2. I woke up on 9/2 to sync with DSLX, change my IPs and I was off and running with great speeds.
The pings to my gateway are slightly higher than with SBC, but this is because my POP is in San Jose instead of Sacramento. But the difference is only 2-3ms, and ultimately the ping is around the same since SBC's route went through Santa Clara/San Jose anyway.
So overall I'm a happy camper. Great job with the install and so far so good. Keep up the great work!

I was (and still am) having a problem with my line taking a lot of errors and downloads dropping off in the middle of a transfer, then ramping back up. This is packet loss at layer2 causing problems. And while it is not resolved, DSL Extreme worked extremely hard, along with SBC/ASI to root-cause the problem. Techs were sent to my prem to test the line/etc, and it seems I'm running at nearly 100% capacity at 6M sync, and although my newer modem is able to hold sync at 12dB, I'm still taking errors/having packet loss due to how full the line is. And although it's still a problem, it's not service affecting (I don't lose sync and persistent connections don't drop off like irc, AOLIM, MSN, etc). I just wanted to update my profile with the info about how DSLX did everything they could to try to fix it and went out of their way to test things with me, even putting up a test file for me to download from one of their internal servers to rule out an internet route. *thumbs up*

Wel, my long road with DSLX has come to an end. I was extremely happy with them. They provided excellent service at great value. Unfortunately, my line has degraded to the point where I cannot hold 6M sync anymore. More importantly, the 3M plan only has a 512Kbps upstream, which unfortunately does not work for me.
So, it's been great and I will still highly recommend DSLX service. I'm sorry to go, but sh** happens. :/
