I ordered ADSL from SWBEll in early November; the sales lady wasn't overly sure whether or not I could get it as my apartment complex internal phone lines are owned by some other company. Turned out to be no problem; SWBEll installed some sort of line modulator at the front of the apartment complex. I got sent the equipment a week before two guys came out and fired it up.

For $49 a month I get 384Kbps-1.5Mbps down/128Kbps up...SWBell had mailed me a special offer of free installation and equipment, saving me nearly $400. I have a dynamic IP although in the week I've had ADSL, my IP hasn't changed at all, despite reboots and switching the Alcatel 1000 off several times.

The download rates I get are excellent; online game ping times are incredible; I average 35-90ms to nearly every Quake 2 server in the US and Canada (my main reason for getting a high speed connection).

Tech support are very good; the registration of your email account wasn't entirely clear in the written documentation they sent me and the fellow walked me through it with ease.

I cannot fault neither SWBell nor my ADSL connection in any way...I wholly recommend going with them as line carrier and ISP if they're available in your area. Give the other ISP's a miss and just stick with the phone company; makes any future tech support needs a one call/one company solution...

    Excellent stuff!
