    My Other Reviews·Cox HSI
I had the same emails since before 1996. Tried to get DSL via EL. They never sent me a modem, no one ever came to the house and one day they started billing for DSL service that I did not have. After 4 months of calling weekly and demanding correction of the bill, and listening to them that the service is working - I was forced to do the credit card dispute following Fair Credit Billing Act. In retaliation Earthlink disconnected my access all together, which is the action explicitly prohibited by the law. They never provided anything to the credit card and the credit card charged back the by now obviously stolen from account money. After another two months a telephone calls I managed to have my account restored as a dial-up so I could retrieve my emails. I am using DSL service directly from the telephone company and still paying for EL just to keep my emails going that I Had for over 10 years. But now the same idiot from Earthlink started turning of and bouncing emails on the email addresses to which I do not login frequently enough for them. I have forwards set up on those accounts. Accordingly to their own rules started in Dec 2005, they can block your paid email account if you do not login frequently enough for them. But if you have a forward setup they would refrain from blocking that account. But they do block all my accounts on which I do have forwarding. Their top tech manager is a rude and stupid and should be fired -- she actually suggested that she has the right to order me to login when or else she will turn off all my emails and continue charging my credit card for the service she did not provide. Not only that - their tech support people can and do have open access to your passwords. My days with Earthlink are counted and I am sorry I have to part with my email addresses that I owned for over 10 years.

Stay away from them, they are incapable of providing any service, they are set to take your money and give you no real service. They do not have capabilities either.

Unfortunately this ISP is composed of people who have no understanding of what the word service means, they do not know what is logical nor what is reasonable. It is because of the people this ISP should be avoided.

    negativity!

I'm sure that there are some positive points.

I personally think that you should stop looking for negative points, and call them and politely request a modem to be sent.

    Did you already do that?

    Do it again.

Call UPS, or whoever sends it.

Don't just whine and complain and make up negative reviews for an ISP that is generally great.

having had to deal with eln reps on almost a daily basis for 4 years, I think the OP is justified in his opinion of the service one doesnt get from earthlink.

    Re: negativity!

I had earthlink dsl and it was great no problems. So don't hate them.I still use the email address through them.As for Qwest they continuously make earthlink look bad and their product look good.By the way did you ask for your money back usually the will refund the money of credit your account. Also what do you think would happen when you do a charge back any company will discontinue service what do you expect from them to keep your service active for free.Any way good luck with Qwest

    Re: negativity!

I *worked* for them for two years, up until they offshored/outsourced their technical support (and billing support, and...).

They chose Abu the Hindu over their own customer service standards to save a buck. Not only is their customer service and technical support the pits (I continued technical support for a year through them after being laid off...one issue took *nine* calls over three weeks for them to straighten out their end), but the personnel you are dealing with as their customer are out of country and could care less.

    sounds about right

Earthlink is useless. They will tell you any lies to get you to pay for service that you won't get.
