We're guessing that despite taking a bit of a bath on the endeavor, Earthlink probably isn't too upset about their decision to scrap their plan to offer pay-per-use Wi-Fi in a handful of cities. While Earthlink already had to deal with the nation's largest free ISP (linksys), a significant number of carriers including AT&T, Cablevision, Comcast (to a limited degree) Qwest and now Verizon have decided to offer free Wi-Fi to their broadband (and in AT&T's case wireless) customers. Assuming you even have a choice of providers, does the offer of free Wi-Fi influence the purchasing decision of which broadband ISP you select?
